Life here in Arugam continues to treat us well. Stu and I have been focusing a bit more on our surfing, and are making sure that we are getting out in the water at least once a day. The swell is still fairly small, but it sounds like it should be building through June and July, which should give us a wider variety of breaks to explore.A? At the moment, Whiskey Point continues to be our favourite spot, with a consistent and mellow wave that always provides some fun. Wea??ve had some great sessions there, both alone first thing in the morning and with surfers from around the world. Yesterday we made the most of having our own tuk-tuk and not needing to book a driver, by setting off on our earliest surf yet, leaving the hotel at 4.30am in order to arrive at Whiskey Point in time for first light. We went with Jimmy, one of the hotel guests, who was leaving at 7am that morning (hence the need for such an early rise). It was amazing to watch the sun slowly rising above the sea and watch the sky change from blue to pink to orange as we bobbed around on our boards. Pure bliss!

Stu and I have also both enjoyed a couple of confidence building sessions at the main point in Arugam, Buy innopran xl which is a much more intimidating place to surf due to the combination of crowds (there never seem to be fewer than about 20 people in the water) and the shallow reef. The Surfing Sri Lanka movement recently created by the new Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka received a major boost today when it was confirmed by the ASP that 2 local Sri Lankan surfers will benefit from wildcard entries into the first major Association of Surfing Professionals international tour event to ever be staged in the country’s history.

The 6 Star WQS Sri Lankan Airlines Pro to be held on Sri Lanka’s east coast at the world famous Arugam Bay between 16 – 24 June will now see some local surfers strutting their stuff amongst the world’s best contenders on the WQS circuit. Two Sri Lankan surfers will gain entry to the elite event as part of the ASP’s strategy to assist and promote local surfing at a variety of surfing locations worldwide.

It is proposed that the Surfing Sri Lanka Trials event will be conducted the day prior to the main ASP event start in order to select 8 local surfers who will then surf-off in two x 4 man elimination heats. Price of pyridium 200 The Arugam Bay Surf Club and the newly formed Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka is gearing itself to conduct the Surf Competition sponsored by SriLankan Airlines from June 18 to 24.

Both Giardia treatment flagyl dose Arugam Bay Surf Club and the Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka are working in line with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) in organizing the Surfing Sri Lanka Trials to be held on June 16 and 17.

The event is open to all Sri Lankan born surfers who are affiliated to the Surfing Federation. Competitors are requested to submit their entries by June 10.

Pleasantly surprising Country Vacation Srilanka

Exotic location like Srilanka is a complete fun for planning your vacation, but not unless you feel at home. With an absolute desire to enjoy this lovely island, I asked them to plan a random vacation for me, just like a blind date. This was just the beginning, as the next spot was again a virgin beach, at Arugam Bay. This was the first truly unspoilt beach I discovered. I feel the unique feature is that they are smartest of all to keep track of all unexplored and undiscovered destinations around the world.

National and International News are buzzing with reports that the STF have found a group suspected of attacks, mainly around Buttala and south of Panama.
Locally, however, a STB bus accident with an equal loss of life at the 10 mile post would have caused more talking points, concern and disruption to the public at large.
Arugam.info is happy to assure everyone that at NO point security to the public, visitors and travelers was endangered.
Indeed, a team from SunTel arrived in the Bay on Friday morning, and they left via Lahugala in their van towards Colombo later that day.
They did not notice anything at all!

The above photo was taken on the road between Lahugala ending up in the middle of Arugam Bay. This road totally avoids PottuVille town and does NOT cross the new so-called “High Tech” USAID bridge as it leads around the east of the lagoon.
(It does NOT cross any rivers either. Further questions the need for a 14Mill$ bridge)
A nice alternative, saving time and much more appealing than the slow transit thru PottuVille.

Today happens to be The First Full Moon Poya Day for the year 2009. Well for some reason I kept searching for the Moon since 6 pm and spotted it at around 7.10pm and I felt sooo happy and a weird sense of relief. It seemed there for a moment that due to the cloudy, rainy, windy weather increase the Moon had not turned up I would have been incredibly dissapointed.
Maybe it’s cause he’s so faraway and the only thing both of us have in common is the Moon above us.
