Digoxin annual sales #43 Home Needs is a well run, clean food and small needs shop.
Something a bit like a Sri Lankan 7/11 corner shop.
Situated right in the middle of the Bay, open until 21:00 hrs. it is perhaps the best run little shop Arugam Bay has to offer.
There are plenty of fridges and freezers and quite a few more items are stocked than in PottuVille. Many may appeal to visitors: Corn Flakes, imported sweets, sun lotions, tampons, diapers.
The hard working owner is Mr. V-Jay.
The shop was wiped off Dec/2004, but with determination and generous immediate financial assistance from the Siam View VJ managed to be the first place to re=open after the Big waves receded.
Common practice has it, that many goods are supplied on credit; a ‘tab’ is kept to ensure customer loyalty.

AbHa recommends, however, that visitors pay for all goods as they receive them.
This would help the cash flow of such small shops.
And avoid bad debts.

S & S is located roughly in the middle of the Bay, opposite #40 Hello Madam and #39 Hillton Hotel.
Run by two Sri Lankan surfers, Samman and Nuwan the entire place has a distinct surf appeal.
In front there is a surf shop, as well as a recent addition of a small Internet cafe.
Behind you will find a friendly bar with a good selection of fresh food complimented by a choice of surf related movies.

In addition to the popular, warm and homely restaurant there are a number of nice cabanas and a few pretty bungalows with upstairs living rooms.
#41 Surf & Sun has hosted a few memorable events such as a hugely successful Reggae Concert recently.
In August 2006 a very colorful and most romantic wedding took place when Samman married Minna from Sweden. The event was recorded and some photos are included in our popular gallery; see right navigation bar.

#24 (Fantasy) Way of the Bay Hotel

#24 Way of the Bay Hotel

This is a new hotel development in Arugam Bay.
Way of the Bay did not feature in last year’s walk or listing.
It now appears in place of “Nina Hotel”, for which we no longer found a sign board, in mid 2010.

Background:

Mr. Sahabdeen is a native of Arugam Bay.
His father – we think his name was Nagorthambi? – once had an old tractor ‘David Brown’ plying up and down the old dirt road of AbaY.

In the 1980’s and maybe early 90’s Sahabdeen was a waiter cum manager of popular #o1 Stardust Hotel.
He learned his excellent skills there, under the direction of Danish perfectionist Per Goodman.

For reasons unknown to this reseacher, Sahabdeen decided to move on, and abroad.

We believe he made good income in kuwait, where he formed a family and saved some money to set up this new Hotel.

Now he is back agin in the middle east, completing his contract.

The hotel itself is run by relatives, but we are informed that it can be rented or given on a long lease for anyone interested.
End 2011 update:

We believe that this estblishment has now been leased / rented out A?and is run by others.

They have renamed the place “FantasyA?Way of the Bay Hotel” .
We are not at all sure what that implies:
It’s up to you to come, find out and let us know in YOUR feed – back!

Please contact Sahabdeen on his personal e-mail as below:

Arugam.info Buy cheap zetia 10 mg is unsure, but we seem to recall that this small, stylish mini resort was known as “Sam & Stu” first, then “Samantha’s Follies”.
An interesting history, in such a case.
An odd couple from Jersey, Channnel islands came to the Bay and tried to live there happy and …forever?
Something must have happened, between them, and they split up.
Samantha went with her new partner to New Zealand – Sam was never seen or heard of again (the latter came to a surprise to many).
Whatever, the place is now managed by a Muslim Family and we have reports that it is getting back to its former glory.

#03 Galaxy Lounge

#03 Galaxy Lounge is the third hospitality place on your left as you enter Arugam Bay.
It is one of the best and perhaps certainly the most interesting one of recent developments the Bay has seen in many years.
Well, actually it is the result of two developments in the same location..
Pretty London raised Sri Gunasena and Aussie hunk Surf-Waine just completed the first Galaxy Hotel in 2004….
Everybody agrees, that their second attempt, completed 2006 resulted in an even better and more beautiful ‘Lounge’ than ever before.
The couple had a very narrow escape at the time, but fate has blessed them with a nice baby son during 2005.
The family can be proud to be recognized as a fine meeting place for musicians and artists, such as painters. This seems obvious as you approach the seafront restaurant.
Cabanas, some build on high stilts, are all made of natural, local materials and are often decorated with innovative, beautiful works of art.
And there are paintings of a kind and quality not usually found in this remote region.
It almost seems like there is a Spanish influence somewhere; the odd Latin dance lessons are a fine compliment to this great ambiance.

There also is a good menu with fresh Humus, a good drinks selection and an open air restaurant with a clear view of the open ocean right in front.

In season, Arugam Bay provides a consistent perfect 2-5ft waves sometimes breaking at 6-8ft on a good swell chart. The wind is predominately offshore all day, due to the south west monsoon and breaks hollow on the rocky reef and sand point from May through to September.

#01 Stardust Beach Hotel

#01 Stardust Paxil avoidant personality disorder Buy lisinopril side is the very first Hotel you come to after crossing the Bridge and as you enter Arugambay. Hence we indexed Stardust No. #01.
But in any case “Stardust” has always been the “No. 01” address at the Bay, offering the highest class of hospitality available in the entire area.
When the late Per together with Merete settled in Arugam Bay this Danish couple established without any doubt very high, fresh standards of hospitality at Arugam Bay.
For many years the well run Stardust was just like an oasis in this very remote enclave.

With only a few highly original, but low budget establishments such as #05 Beach Hut, #45 Sooriya’s and #58 Rupas around in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s #01 Stardust’s high class, international cuisine together with a dozen or so perfect, ultra clean rooms firmly established Arugam Bay on to a global map.
Suddenly there was a place in town not just for surfers, but for demanding world travelers!
A man with a vision, a true pioneer, Per Goodman continued to develop his great resort until the end; of 2004. Stardust gained and maintained the reputation of being the finest Restaurant in the East, offering good local and always perfect International dishes in a beautiful location and setting near the large lagoon.

The Hotel’s own web site, designed by the late Mr. Philip has for many years been described as a ‘good source of information’ about Arugam Bay and the surrounding area.
Again, even the site was ahead of its time and rightfully still holds the No. 01 position on Google.
