![Praying fishernan at AbaY In the artista??s own words: a??Fishermen from the rural areas still pray to the sea gods before they set sail early dawn, praying for safety as well as a good catch. Their lifelines are in the fishing industry. Dipping in the sea and rising up with arms wide open is part of the ritual, which is done seven times before the fishermen set sail. The picture was taken at Arugam Bay, and it is one of the rare sites in Sri Lanka which this ritual is still practiced.a??](https://www.arugam.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Prying-fishernan-at-AbaY-224x300.jpg)

hahaha, true Fred. Is it raining there? Thinking of heading up with some mountain bikes – just to explore.
…..it could have been worse, Dilsiri!
Just imagine if YOU would have covered that last ritual practicing fishy man with your downwind kite?
Or if you knocked him down under with your board….?
Who, may I ask, would then be left in da Bay to sea rescue you in the future?
haha, i am the one who gave him directions to head there! lol. he had a bit of drama on route there knocking down a cyclist!
