What wasn't mentioned in the above post is the fact that the only foreigner involved in the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Village, a Mr. Ota Takashi is actually a quiet, non-socializing, but most polite and very modest Civil Engineer. More so, and in total contrast to all the other "experts" many useless NGO's have sent to 'impress' us with their expertise: Mr. Takashi is -if anything- overqualified for this location: He is in charge of Hydro Power projects, Oil exploration and refinery projects, worldwide and only visits Sri Lanka on a strict rotation to inspect progress and quality of workmanship. Again: Respect! Can we get more of such caliber? Indeed, I am impressed.
