Arugam.info regrets to inform that all reliable Communications Links to (our part of) the East Coast have been interrupted.
The landline telephones are said to be cut due to severe flooding.
The only high speed broadband data line to the East has been disconnected with immediate effect by SLT accounts dept.

Arugam.info maintained all such links and services since 1998.
Even in the post Tsunami days an emergency system (Inmarsat) was obtained, entirely with private funding.
It is highly regretted we are unable to continue our Community service due to the high cost factor - and the total lack of tourists, visitors and NGO’s in the area.
We had hoped that in such unstable times, our remote location and the troubles facing the poor and displaced here in the East we would have been able to continue our work.
For now, the only way to contact us, to ask for news or to verify recent events is to contact our help line:

Comments & Posts can of course continue to be written and they will be published by Greg in France without the benefit of a direct, local input. No photos from local events are possible from now on.
Wishing everyone, incl. all the ‘helpful’ NGO’s a Very Happy Christmas
and a hopefully Peaceful New Year 2007

A Peaceful New Year!
Indeed.
I certainly wish that Peace will come to Sri Lanka, and specially to the East and North.
If and when this happens, everything else will follow.
The island has so much to offer, Arugam Bay will do very well.
But when?
Sad to read that the direct news flow is interrupted; just when we need it most maybe.
What a crazy time!
We too wish peace for Sri Lanka. All the rest will come without problems if only these stupid guys stop!
Dear Greg, Thanks for your support in these hard times!
Merry Christmas and a really Happy and peaceful New Year to everybody
